Weddings & Workshops ...

Weddings and workshops…

10423975_473130196161124_7095258205777950218_nThe start of November has been a hectic with evening classes, weddings and lots of day to day floral displays leaving the workshop. Last weekends two weddings were very different. Eleanor and James chose classic whites and purples to decorate the beautiful Langdon Court, whilst Becky & Chris chose bright and vibrant for their stunning wedding at The Horn of Plenty (pictured above).

Insta wreath Christmas seems to be approaching at a very swift pace! Workshops are filling up but there is still time to book yourself on both of my day time courses at Colebrook & Glenholt and also a few spaces on my evening workshop at The Devonport Guildhall . Why not bring a friend or two with you and make it your festive outing?! All materials as well as suitably warming refreshments will be provided! A brilliant time is guaranteed and you get to take home a stunning door garland with you!
The all important dates are:
- Wednesday 3rd December 7-9pm at The Devonport Guildhall – £30

- Friday 5th December 10.30 – 12.30 at St Annes Church Hall in Glenholt – £25

- Saturday 6th December 10 -12 at Colebrook Community Centre – £25
Please book your place to avoid disappointment

I look forward to seeing you there! x

Christmas Workshops are filling up!

Christmas is fast approaching and the count down to the biggest date of the year is now in just double figures!

I for one haven’t bought a single present, but I am aware that lots of other people are far more organised than me, and the way my Christmas workshops are becoming booked are proof of that!

images (3)Two evening wreath making evening workshops are completely full at The Turtley Corn Mill, which is great news. There are also only a few spaces left at The Devonport Guildhall Candlelit Christmas Workshop which is taking place on Wednesday 3rd December from 7 until 8.30 pm. All materials along with seasonal refreshments will be provided. It is sure to be a fun evening, so if you do fancy coming along, please be sure to book soon!

I am also holding workshops on Friday 5th December at St. Annes Church Hall in Glenholt from 10.30am until 12.30pm and on Saturday 6th December at Colebrook Community Centre from 10am until 12pm. Both workshops cost £25 and include all materials needed to make a stunning door garland, as well as seasonal refreshments! (Although it may be a little early in the day for Mulled Wine!) Please do book to avoid disappointment as these workshops are becoming increasingly popular.

In other news, last Tuesday saw the start of my Evening Workshop! A lovely collection of ladies came along for the first week and I am looking forward to creating seasonal designs with them over the next 9 weeks. Its not too late to join – just get in touch if you would like to come along.

Remembering the summer & looking forward to the winter!

Remembering summer & looking forward to winter!
This week has been one to make us realise that summer is well and truly behind us! The evenings seem to be getting longer by the day and it is easy to come home and hibernate in front of the fire….

10427679_411537515653726_2435413612181884674_nPerhaps though, we should look at this dark and cold season as a time to get creative and meet new people. Workshops during the autumn and winter months are getting more and more popular. From book clubs to cake decorating, you can do it all on these dreary long evenings! I, of course, suggest getting creative with some beautiful fresh flowers! Not only is it the perfect opportunity to meet like minded friendly flowery sorts and learn a new skill, it also means you can take whatever you create home and brighten up your house for the next week or so – what more could you want? Check out my workshops and classes page to find out what you could come and join.

imageDuring the summer months, I have been fortunate enough to meet some lovely suppliers whilst setting up for weddings in various parts of Devon. At the end of August, I met the lovely Simon of Simon Rawling Photography . This week Simon kindly sent me a selection of stunning photos from the wedding and I am thrilled to have them to use on my site and to promote my work.
Receiving beautiful photographs gives me the opportunity to reflect on how lucky I have been to work with such lovely couples this year. It also fills me with enthusiasm for the weddings I still have to do for this year, and with excitement for the new couples I have been meeting with recently to discuss their weddings for next year!
If you would like to discuss your wedding flowers then please do get in touch, I would be thrilled to speak with you.
You can see a selection of my work on my Facebook page, as well as on my weddings page on this site. You can also come and see a selection of my work at the upcoming Langdon Court wedding fair, Sunday 30th November from 12pm. Look forward to seeing you there!

A new season...

A new season..

With the summer months passing us by so quickly, and weddings coming around every weekend, it is easy to forget that autumn is fast approaching! A visit to my flower wholesaler this morning made me realise that seasons are changing. The mornings and evenings will soon be drawing in, the leaves will be crunching under our feet and nature will be surrounding us with berries and beautiful shades of reds and burnt oranges.

I absolutely love when a new season starts. All the flowers arrive back that I haven’t seen for 12 months and renew my enthusiasm for beautiful autumn flowers all over again.

It also means that evening classes are starting again! Hurray! This year they will be based at Oreston Methodist Church Hall and will run from Tuesday 14th October until Tuesday 16th December from 7 until 8.30pm. The cost is just £45 including refreshments.

image

I am also running a single morning course on Friday 26th September from 11.15 am to 1.15 pm. This course is £20 and all materials and refreshments will be provided. All you need to bring is yourself! Simply call or go to the Workshops and Classes page to book

Lonely Bouquets

10425130_412711962202948_2593806253087527471_nLast Sunday, 29th June, was International Lonely Bouquet Day. A day when florists around the world leave a  small bouquet somewhere special for someone to find! I think this is an absolutely brilliant idea and, as the date is also my Birthday, I decided to leave three bouquets in my favourite places.

One bouquet was left at the Royal William Yard at Stonehouse, and was found by a lovely man form Cardiff who was down in Plymouth on a break with his partner, it really made his day!

10492556_412880458852765_7032056908503919096_nMy other two lonely bouquets were left in Plymbridge Woods, a place I walk through often with our dog Jess. I was a little concerned that no one would find these as it was a little later in the day, however, I had two lovely emails telling me that they had been found! One by Jessica and Brad, and another by this lovely dog Portia and her owner Heidi!
I was really pleased to have taken part in this fantastic event and can’t wait to do it again next year!

On another note, this weekend brings another fab Wedding Fair at Langdon Court. The event is running from 1pm, so if you are looking for some great suppliers for your big day, then do pop along and see us!

British Flowers Week

Did you know that this week, June 16th – 20th, is British Flower Week?

What is British Flowers Week?
A week‐long celebration of the wealth and variety of the Best of British cut flowers and foliage, championed by New Covent Garden Flower Market
What’s it all about?
British growers have been sending to London’s famous Flower Market for centuries, and whilst cut flower production is now a global business, British flowers and foliage are enjoying a long-awaited resurgence in interest.
The Flower Market initiated the first ever British Flowers Week in June 2013, and its social media campaign reached over 200,000 people via Twitter, facebook and newcoventgardenmarket.com

So, now you know! British Flowers Week is a great opportunity to learn more about your local growers and wholesalers. A lot of you may not even know what local growers are close to your home, particularly if you live in the Westcountry.
Take the chance this week, while the weather is gorgeously sunny, and find out more about a grower near you! You can find out lots on facebook and twitter, simply by following #britishflowersweek.  Or if you don’t have the time for all that, then nip to your local florist or road side trader and ask to purchase a bunch of locally grown flowers and do your bit towards this fantastic industry!

May Weddings!

10322761_10152236398539961_8919867029657344852_nThis month has seen some absolutely lovely weddings so far.

I started the month visiting Mount Edgcumbe House for Claire’s lovely wedding, a stunning white hydrangea and peony bouquet with a touch of pink. Their tables had the unusual theme of decorated antlers! Lovely to create something a little bit different.

The following weekend saw Kerry’s wedding, her day was made extra special by her lovely nine bridesmaids! Summery pastel shades were the theme of the day, beautiful shades of lemon, pinks, blues and peaches were carried by the Bride, her lovely bridesmaids and also decorated each table at St Mellion Hotel10294493_390884451052366_3205701527765752915_n

Last Friday saw the lovely Hannah get married at The Holiday Inn - I am awaiting some photos to share with you!

More weddings coming up over the next few weeks, so check back for plenty of photos!

A busy few weeks...

Mothers Day was gone in a whirl of late evenings, deliveries and not forgetting a workshop! There were some very happy Mums and I had some absolutely fabulous comments left on my Facebook page. All in all a very successful weekend!

The weeks following Mother’s Day have been hectic with meeting lovely new Brides and discussing their wedding flowers for the summer months. It is lovely being involved with so many different wedding ideas, from outdoor weddings in yellows, creams and purples, to bouquets of all gerbera with hundreds of bridesmaids! Roll on the sunny summer months!

Looking forward to next week, I have my Easter workshop coming up. All those coming along will learn to make some gorgeous Easter displays to decorate their home, from Easter trees to Easter wreaths, we’ll  be making it all! If you would like to come along, I still have a few places left, so don’t hesitate to get in touch in the usual ways!

Langdon Court Wedding Fair

Langdon Court Wedding Fair

Today saw another Wedding Fair at Langdon Court. It was a glorious sunny day to spend at such a lovely venue and as well as meeting some fantastic, excited, newly engaged couples, I also met some fab suppliers!

The Little Green Van Company was certainly grateful for a sunny day! Parked outside was the lovely Clare in her gorgeous green Citroen van, so lovely in fact, I am trying to think of a reason to have to hire it!

Little green van

Also outside, was Buzz the stunning Love Bus, perfect transport on your big day for the VW lovers amongst us!

Inside was a selection of more inspirational suppliers. Stunning photography was displayed by Younger Photography providing unique, award winning wedding day memories.

Beautiful Brides and Bridesmaids dresses were displayed by The Wedding Company in Plympton, along with a few of their exquisite collection of new suits and menswear.

wedding companyStunning photography was also on display from Simon at Picshore Photography. Another award winning photographer from the south west. Absolutely beautiful photo albums on display, providing lasting memories for many years to come.

Your Big Event was also there to provide the music for the day! Andy is really fantastic to provide memorable entertainment for you big day and evening and quite probably well into the night!

Finally from my recommendations, providing stunning wedding cakes was Truly Scrumptious Cakes by Karen. I have known Karen for a few years now, her way with Brides mean that you get fantastic customer service and truly scrumptious cakes!
