The cost is £30 per person, all materials are provided.

On Friday 5th December, I will be holding a Christmas Wreath Making Workshop at St Anne’s Church Hall in Glenholt, Plymouth. A new season...

A new season..

With the summer months passing us by so quickly, and weddings coming around every weekend, it is easy to forget that autumn is fast approaching! A visit to my flower wholesaler this morning made me realise that seasons are changing. The mornings and evenings will soon be drawing in, the leaves will be crunching under our feet and nature will be surrounding us with berries and beautiful shades of reds and burnt oranges.

I absolutely love when a new season starts. All the flowers arrive back that I haven’t seen for 12 months and renew my enthusiasm for beautiful autumn flowers all over again.

It also means that evening classes are starting again! Hurray! This year they will be based at Oreston Methodist Church Hall and will run from Tuesday 14th October until Tuesday 16th December from 7 until 8.30pm. The cost is just £45 including refreshments.

Lonely Bouquets

10425130_412711962202948_2593806253087527471_nLast Sunday, 29th June, was International Lonely Bouquet Day. A day when florists around the world leave a  small bouquet somewhere special for someone to find! I think this is an absolutely brilliant idea and, as the date is also my Birthday, I decided to leave three bouquets in my favourite places.

One bouquet was left at the Royal William Yard at Stonehouse, and was found by a lovely man form Cardiff who was down in Plymouth on a break with his partner, it really made his day!

10492556_412880458852765_7032056908503919096_nMy other two lonely bouquets were left in Plymbridge Woods, a place I walk through often with our dog Jess. I was a little concerned that no one would find these as it was a little later in the day, however, I had two lovely emails telling me that they had been found! One by Jessica and Brad, and another by this lovely dog Portia and her owner Heidi!
I was really pleased to have taken part in this fantastic event and can’t wait to do it again next year!

On another note, this weekend brings another fab Wedding Fair at Langdon Court. The event is running from 1pm, so if you are looking for some great suppliers for your big day, then do pop along and see us!

British Flowers Week

Did you know that this week, June 16th – 20th, is British Flower Week?

What is British Flowers Week?
A week‐long celebration of the wealth and variety of the Best of British cut flowers and foliage, championed by New Covent Garden Flower Market
What’s it all about?
British growers have been sending to London’s famous Flower Market for centuries, and whilst cut flower production is now a global business, British flowers and foliage are enjoying a long-awaited resurgence in interest.
The Flower Market initiated the first ever British Flowers Week in June 2013, and its social media campaign reached over 200,000 people via Twitter, facebook and newcoventgardenmarket.com

So, now you know! British Flowers Week is a great opportunity to learn more about your local growers and wholesalers. A lot of you may not even know what local growers are close to your home, particularly if you live in the Westcountry.
Take the chance this week, while the weather is gorgeously sunny, and find out more about a grower near you! You can find out lots on facebook and twitter, simply by following #britishflowersweek.  Or if you don’t have the time for all that, then nip to your local florist or road side trader and ask to purchase a bunch of locally grown flowers and do your bit towards this fantastic industry!

May Weddings!

10322761_10152236398539961_8919867029657344852_nThis month has seen some absolutely lovely weddings so far.

I started the month visiting Mount Edgcumbe House for Claire’s lovely wedding, a stunning white hydrangea and peony bouquet with a touch of pink. Their tables had the unusual theme of decorated antlers! Lovely to create something a little bit different.

The following weekend saw Kerry’s wedding, her day was made extra special by her lovely nine bridesmaids! Summery pastel shades were the theme of the day, beautiful shades of lemon, pinks, blues and peaches were carried by the Bride, her lovely bridesmaids and also decorated each table at St Mellion Hotel10294493_390884451052366_3205701527765752915_n

Last Friday saw the lovely Hannah get married at The Holiday Inn - I am awaiting some photos to share with you!

More weddings coming up over the next few weeks, so check back for plenty of photos!

A busy few weeks...

Mothers Day was gone in a whirl of late evenings, deliveries and not forgetting a workshop! There were some very happy Mums and I had some absolutely fabulous comments left on my Facebook page. All in all a very successful weekend!

The weeks following Mother’s Day have been hectic with meeting lovely new Brides and discussing their wedding flowers for the summer months. It is lovely being involved with so many different wedding ideas, from outdoor weddings in yellows, creams and purples, to bouquets of all gerbera with hundreds of bridesmaids! Roll on the sunny summer months!

Looking forward to next week, I have my Easter workshop coming up. All those coming along will learn to make some gorgeous Easter displays to decorate their home, from Easter trees to Easter wreaths, we’ll  be making it all! If you would like to come along, I still have a few places left, so don’t hesitate to get in touch in the usual ways!
